The Out_Circuit are good. Plain and simple, this is a talented group of dudes getting together and being talented together. And it works...kind of. Pierce the Empire With a Sound is a great technical album. Everyone in The Out_Circuit has spent plenty of time in other bands honing their skills and it really shows on this album. The problem is that while the technical prowess is there, the passion is missing. Each member is bringing something from their previous bands to the table on this record, and while they manage to make it all fit together perfectly, they forgot to add that secret ingredient that makes a song more than just a string of notes.

That being said, the production on this album is perfect. The Out_Circuit have a sound similar to Thursday mixed with some post hardcore and further mixed with some post rock. It's a great sound. The Out_Circuit are definitely breathing some new life into genres normally plagued with bands that are just copies of copies of copies.

There's definitely potential in this band to become something great [think something like a post hardcore super group]. But, given this offering, they have the same potential to become something awful [think the long droning boring classic rock albums your father used to make you listen to in the car on the way to school]. Hopefully I'm wrong and The Out_Circuit can help reinvent the genres that it's pulling from, but this isn't going to be the album to do it.
