What a big step this band has taken, since their debut full-length "Good Luck". "The Gypsy Hill ep" blows "Good Luck" out of the water, and I think Big D is on the way to make a name for themselves. While still featuring the "ska/reggae" beat, the ep takes on a harder, punker edge that will appeal to more people. The guys waste no time wripping the shit out of this compact disc with the song "Check List" which features the trademark and whacked out vocals of Dave McWane. The intensity of this album is evident from the start. A Big D cd couldn't be complete without a song about chicks either so look for "Evil Girl Angry Girl" which explains what luck these seven Bosstonians have had with the females over the years. The tracks that stick out like a sore thumb, and ones you can listen to over and over again are "Scenester" where suprisingly Dave McWane actually puts his impressive SINGING voice to use for four minutes and thirty seconds like I've never heard before. The ep also features a live version of the Big D classic "Find Out" sung by the European punk rockers Lightyear who the band met while on their European tour. The highlight by far in these eleven exciting tracks is the anthem all North Easterner's should live by..... "New England".
