Teenage Bottlerocket sticks with its Ramones influences on their third full-length, Warning Device. The follow-up to 2005's Total is pure, unabashed, three-chord pop-punk at its absolute finest.
The lyrics are simple, focusing on relationships, and therefore easy to remember and sing along with, which is exactly what fans expect Teenage Bottlerocket to deliver, alongside infectious melodies. The album is paced well and the Blasting Room production crew does another great job.
The performance is passionate and full of energy. "Totally Stupid," "Welcome to the Nuthouse" and "Crawling Back to You" are all incredible standout tracks, packed with great verses with which to sing along.
Sure, the band pushes almost no new boundaries with Warning Device, but in an era of pretentious indie rock, it's cool to see a band sticking to its traditional three-chord roots, especially when that band does it so well.
And honestly, could anyone hate the bubblegum-punk sound of Teenage Bottlerocket?
No...whoa...oh...oh!
