I've heard this band's name thrown around a couple of times via tours and online promotion, but really didn't know much about them. Being a hardcore band from Boston is like being a hockey player from Canada, you already have a reputation before you show anyone anything. This band doesn't let down on that reputation of a Boston hardcore band; they play hardcore punk with the gritty sound that gets the Boston stamp of approval. This band should make sense to real hardcore kids - you know who you are - but it just comes up short for me.

Now before you dog my stance, you need to know that I don't think that this band sucks and is not worth anyone's time. I really just don't find anything interesting or exciting about them. They play all of the typical parts and they play them well, but when I look for certain aspects that make them a good band, I couldn't tell you one. The drumming is solid and the guitar playing is solid, but nothing stands out in either category. Vocally I'm really turned off; the guy just sounds bland and nothing really out of the ordinary. There is some good song writing none-the-less - "Nereus" is a great song which I get into every time. Simply put, this album just lacks in impressing me. I'd rather listen to bands like Bane who are taking hardcore somewhere different, than listen to this, which feels like it has already been done before.

If you listen to punk or hardcore because your looking for a new album that comes out from a new band that makes you think of bands you used to listen to, then pick this up. However, if you're like me and you look for something that makes you think that a band is onto something new, then you can pass on this one next time you're looking for a new album to buy.
