Oh snap! Danger Radio has been one of the biggest bands on the internet for quite some time. Kids everywhere have been sweating them, HARD. For the longest time I didn't know why. I guess I was just too busy to stop and see what all the fuss was about. But thank god I finally got the chance to do so. While Washington has been home to a lot of my favorite bands, none of them have ever sounded like this. Danger Radio has fused together so many different styles of music from 1970s funk and soul to modern pop rock to 80s pop. There's no telling where they're going to go next.

Danger Radio is six dudes that have created a truly fun and enjoyable sound and Punch Your Lights Out will be a debut that will blow away kids everywhere. While they have released material before this, it was all without a label. There's something infectious about their grooves and beats. You can't help but be inspired to dance while listening to this album, dead serious. The oddity of the riffs combined with the drums, electronics, and keyboards is a perfect canvas for Andrew de Torres to lay his vocals all over. There's no drawing a comparison though, as the closest you'd come would probably be Head Automatica, but even that wouldn't do Danger Radio justice. As much as I love Head Automatica, those guys have NOTHING on Danger Radio. You can't even fit them into a specific genre, don't try, it won't work. Just listen to it and love it, as you undoubtedly will.

I feel bad for sleeping on this band for so long, and if you don't at least check out their myspace after reading this review, you should. These are pop songs at their core, but the variation of style that they add to it gives you something you really won't get anywhere else. Danger Radio is a one-of-a-kind gem and the only reason they get a four instead of a five is because all they offer is an EP. This is nothing more than a teaser guys, I need more songs, STAT!
