Defying any sort of definition, and refusing to fit into a certain genre is Arkham out of Huntington Beach. One aspect about their debut Volcom full-length "Mahkra" is how they tear into the first song and keep the energy going in a brain shaking fashion through the last track "Chumley" which holds in it's grasp more energy than the entire disc combined. The only influences that I can possibly think of when trying to find something similar to Arkham is a combination of Piebald, At The Drive In, and Thursday..... which makes for one hell of a recipe. What's going to suprise a lot of you that listen to this for the first time is that you may not like it at first, so don't be suprised. After the disc's first rotation I had to sit back and think for a while about what I just heard. A few more listens later I've gotten a new found respect for the band who put out one hell of a full-length. Favorite song off of "Mahkra" would have to be "Blue And The Bullet". It's just mind boggeling rock 'n roll taken to a hardcore level like few bands have been able to attempt. Check out Arkham on this years Warped Tour on the Volcom Stage.
