I first had the chance to check out Sixer with their previous release which was on TKO. It was "ok" but wasn't all around that great of an album. On the way to work today while listening to Sixer's BYO debut I was suprised how they took their southern rock 'n roll/punk rock influence up a notch, emmulating the sound of the older Rancid tunes. Sixer consists of ex-members of Ann Beretta and after listening to this ten song ear pleaser, I'm glad they decided to leave their previous band. Sixer is a band that has hit the pavement time and time again, and that energy and love for what they do comes through in every track of "Beautiful Trash". Many tracks on the album revolve around their trials and tribulations as a group, but one thing I (at least) found from the deep and serious lyrics is the ability they have to inspire any punk alike. These guys are truley worth of the label of "The Next Rancid". The vocals of Rancid these days are pretty well shot, so look forward to Sixer taking over the helm in the coming months and years. Lastly, the band's sound even thought it's of a a street punk nature, has a level of catchyness that will appeal to a large, diverse crowd.
