Seattle's Pedro the Lion is back for their third full length; their second for Jade Tree. Control is a natural progression from their older material, featuring heavier instrumentation than their older albums. The addition of more instruments in this album, such as a synthesizer in some tracks, allow for more accessiblity to Pedro the Lion's sound for someone who's never listened to them over their earlier more stripped down and occasionally acoustic sound. Bazan's voice and lyrics remain very similar to his older songs. All in all, Control really isn't all that much different from Winners Never Quit or It's Hard to Find a Friend, but it surely does offer more of the same great indie-pop songwriting and instrumentation as the previous albums did and certainly should be checked out for fans of the genre.
