The songs on Chaos is My Name have little sense of structure. The essence is in the shock and scare of the atmosphere created by a molestation of guitar noodling, Laura Palmer shrieking, high end squeals, and oil drum and cymbal bashing cacophony. These are not songs but sentiments, and as a whole they are an abstract representation of fear and repulsion. This album will make you feel claustrophobic, anti-social, and feral, kind of like if you dropped a bunch of bad acid with Jeffrey Dahmer and he took you on a tour of John Wayne Gacy’s crawlspace while Ed Gein pissed on the backs of your feet before they both raped you, masturbated with each other and then ate your remains.
Ultimately, this is a back shelf album- one to keep and take out every now and then due to its unenjoyable nature. It is audio pornography that both disturbs and stimulates but only on rare occasions. It is a unique exploration into the recesses of the human animal but fails to reveal any truth or give any answer. I’ll play it at my daughter’s Halloween party this Fall and all her friends will piss themselves. But for your discerning metalhead, this will not scare but will just mildly perplex. Beautiful only to a Buddhist serial killer. Do not submit any film images set to this music to the editor.
