Not Enough Saturday Nights opens with the cheering of a crowd before River City High rips into “Dogwood Queen,” a guitar-driven tune in southern rock fashion. The best thing River City High has going for them on this effort is that from start to finish, it has the feeling of a classic, southern rock band ripping through a live set, never letting off the gas. And that's not to be taken lightly.

Lyrically, the content is fairly simple. Most of the songs are either about girls, reflective of the old days, or about reveling in the lifestyle of a rock band. In “Bastard,” vocalist James Menefee somewhat proudly proclaims, “I'm a bastard! I'm a walking disaster!”

“Pass That Riff,” tries to be funny but the humor doesn't hit its mark and it just becomes a throwaway track. Everything on the effort is fairly standard southern rock in the classic style, mixed with a bit of the Detroit rock sound of Seeger and Nugent.

Really, it doesn't stray far from its influences, but there don't seem to be many bands playing this style anymore. So, if you need a new take on the classic rock blood boiling inside you, Not Enough Saturday Nights is a somewhat mindless endeavor, but in that good, mindless fun sort of way.
