Makeoutmusic does not offer anything new or out of the ordinary and their influence by punk rockers like NOFX, Pennywise and BigWig is definitely apparent in their style. The trio from New York plays hard and fast but, not necessarily unique music.

“Get Off My Soapbox,” their latest release, is their third EP and features six tracks. The band has also released a full length album in their five years together. Each song is short with the longest track, “Get Off My Soapbox,” lasting only three minutes and thirteen seconds. The track starts off similar to a Bad Religion tune and vocally could resemble a few tracks off an old Punk-O-Rama compilation.

The album ends in less than thirteen minutes and leaves listeners with little impact. The music is not necessarily bad, but it offers no unique characteristics to make it standout from any other band. Everything on this record has been done before and, in most cases, has been done better.
