Mercy Killers debut on Hellcat with their 10-song sing along, “Bloodlove”.  The album itself is not to bad. It combines some of the mid nineties sounds of gritty Chicago punk (early Lawrence Arms and Alk3) as well as some classical punk staples (The Damned).  But what this album lacks is drive.  The songs are good, but that’s really it.  The album is ten songs, not ten extraordinary songs, not ten terrible songs, just ten songs.

“Bloodlove” could very well be an album that you have to listen to a few times to get into it.  It definitely has the potential to be, its catchiness could not be denied, however, I feel like I the listener was denied of anything exciting.  Nothing really caught my attention and nothing made me want to turn the cd off.

If you have the time, give Mercy Killers a chance.  If you want good insight on combining something old and something new, pick “Bloodlove” up.  But if you are as impatient as I am, which is much more than your average person might I add, this record may not be for you.
