I hardly ever listen to compilations for the simple fact that on almost every comp there are at least two or three bands that suck. I'll just go give a track-to-track description of this fourth release in the successfull Hopelessly Devoted To You series.
Thrice: Two Thrice songs on here (one unreleased) and both fail to be more than average.
Avenged Sevenfold: These guys sure know how to play their instruments, but I still think their two songs on this suck. I'll listen to Dimmu Borgir before this any day.
Against All Authority: Both of the AAA songs rock my socks off.
Common Rider: Nice regge song featuring Jesse from Op Ivy. I look forward to their upcoming debut full-length.
The Weakerthans: I just can't resist John K. Samson's voice. Great songs too.
Atom & His Package: You gotta love Atom. Basically the same as all the other Atom songs, but still my favorite from this cd (along with the Weakerthans).
Mustard Plug: Two decent ska-punk songs. Nothing special.
Samiam: A great song with a nice rock-n-roll vibe to it.
Digger: Sorry, but shit like this just bores the hell out of me. This has been done too many times.
Selby Tigers: The have a cool sound, but I can't seem to get into this song.
Scared Of Chaka: Kinda enjoyable song, but nothing special.
Jeff Ott: Would be a nice song if it was about 3 minutes shorter.
All in all, this compilation isn't that bad, though I doubt I'll ever listen to it again. My favorites are definitely The Weakerthans, Atom and Samiam.
