Sometimes as critics, I think we forget that we are first and foremost, fans of music.  At least I hope we are; I know I speak at least for myself when I say that. I never wanted to review music to rip it apart; I simply wanted to be involved in what has always made my life what it is. When a band like Good Riddance has been making that music since before I was in middle school, who am I to judge anything they say or do? I am a fan of this band, a fan of Russ Rankin’s thoughts and words and from the minute this record arrived in my mailbox I have been a fan of it as well. I’ve been sitting around for weeks now trying to figure out whether or not I should write a review or send it off to someone else.  The truth is I can’t review it; at least not well. If you’ve clicked on this review, chances are you’re also a fan of this band or if not, you at least know what they sound like. If you’re looking to learn something new about Good Riddance or hear about whether or not their new album holds a candle to their last then stop reading this right now.

I’m going to stop running my mouth here and ask you, the readers of Punkbands.com that without whom I would have no one to run my mouth to, to finish this review.  I asked you to write your thoughts on this record, and here’s what you’ve said:

“Although I am a huge GR fan I have to say that I think their earlier stuff has more energy than My Republic. Great record, but not top score - 3 stars from me.” –Carsten

“There are a bunch of melodic hardcore bands out there keeping the scene fresh and interesting, and after a couple of spins, I'm reaching for their records rather than a repeat listen of this!” -3/5, TheBaptistGeneral

“Nothing is as gold as the old stuff, however any era-Good Riddance is good to my ears and Russ Rankin is one of the best punk front men out there! He's intelligent and has a good voice.” -4/5, Mr. Adam

“It’s the same story with every band that has been around as long as good riddance in any genre. They run out of stuff to write. Would anyone want to hear “Ballads from the Revolution” with new lyrics. No! This is not my favorite good riddance album, but I was excited to listen to it. It wasn’t bad at all.” -4/5, SeanHatch

“I liked the fast songs, but there weren’t too many of them; too much poppy stuff. 3/5 even though I didn't give it a proper listen.” –EddieCash

There you have it; from your own mouths; not mine.  If you have something to add, please do so in the comments section.
