The band consists of vocals, three guitars, bass, drums, and effects; the reworked acoustic versions on this release also use strings, piano, and even a 92 voice children’s choir, adding to the atmospheric ambiance which layers into the two b-sides. Unfortunately, the single, “Ambrosia,” is pretty bland, a mostly formulaic and pop-oriented post-hardcore without heaviness or screaming to break it up into manageable chunks. The video for it is just as bland, although it does reveal that the lead singer bears a striking resemblance to Jack Black. Fortunately for this release, the single is shorter than the other two songs, which are, on the whole, worth getting if you like well-layered, building indie rock. Also, the packaging and record itself are amazing looking, with a brown splatter vinyl and gold print on the jackets. Basically, if you like this type of music or liked the CD, get this, if not, try out some songs first (they have purevolume or myspace both) and see. Also, look for them on tour with Minus the Bear and Thursday in the near future.
