When I opened this package, I figured that if I didn’t like the music at all, I could just use the nice yellow folder to store all my fan mail in. Then I remembered that I don’t have any fans and even if I did, I highly doubt they’d send me mail so basically I’d end up throwing said folder away and we just can’t have that so the music better be good.  Dropping Daylight comes from Minneapolis composed of music school dropouts. Vocalist and Pianist, Sebastian Davin is a classically trained pianist who studied at the Berklee School of Music. Yes everyone, we have some real musicians on our hands. One of the real treasures of this band is Sebastian’s teenage brother Seth, whose maturity is almost bewildering.

Comparing their sounds with Switchfoot, Yellowcard and The Juliana Theory wouldn’t be too far off but I honestly think they’re better instrumentalists than the latter, so we’ll compare Dropping Daylight with Dropping Daylight.  Together, this band crafts each song to the height of catchiness while still throwing in some tantalizing quirks that you really have to listen for and appreciate.  “Take a Photograph” is headed straight to the airwaves. It’s purely for rocking out and singing along loudly and out of key.  “Save Yourself” stands out because of its quick piano intro in minor key.  Can college dropouts spell platinum? They better learn because I anticipate they’ll have some of the stuff decorating their walls within a year or two.

Modern rock hasn’t sounded this good in ages. This 4 song EP pays attention to detail, emphasizes dynamics and actually knows how and when to harmonize. Watch out, Nickelback, these guys are going to be totally requested live in no time.  Supercharged rock beats, addictive choruses, smoldering piano and powerful vocals make “Take a Photograph” an EP to check out. My only complaint? Not enough songs to completley judge by. Can these guys keep it up for an entire album? I'll hold back my score until I see the real deal.
