The music never bites you, it never gets in your face. I usually am more of a fan of harder music that does the opposite of what statistics continue to pull off; that punches you in the face to force you to pay attention. But this band pulls on me. It is soft without being pretentious like bright eyes feels sometimes, or forced like many low-key indie projects end up sounding. The lyrics, while not brilliant, are well written and fit the songs. The sound is engrossing, utilizing synthesizer without an 80s pop feel, but purely to round out the soundscape. The best song here is the second track, Nobody Knows Your Name, starting with a bright and clear repeating guitar riff and slowly building with drums and synthesizer to a full and surrounding sound.
There are few people who manage to pull of the kind of feeling this gives me, a feeling of calm and patience, and this cd and its earlier brother find their way into my stereo every time I feel out of control and need to come down. Five stars for a great release.
