“Hope is War” is drastically different from any other song on here as it lacks any emotional outcry or desperate plea for attention. It’s raw, engaging and full of to the teeth entertainment. In essence, I’m totally digging it. What I’m not liking however, is the way that after the first track, this album sort of dives into another genre, that of a more emotionally driven hardcore with tearfully subdued brutality. The attempted harmonies on “Light In Mine” are painfully off key, and even hardcore kids should be sat down and given a lesson or two in harmony. By the time track seven, “Stability” comes on, Life In Your Way has officially grown on me. It’s just a shame that they had to grow at all.
Lyrically, this album is truly motivating. The songs are largely about strength and the pursuit of passion, and while not over the top religious, the spiritual backing is evident. In conclusion, Life In Your Way is not a shockingly original breakthrough band, but a decently put together group of individuals who made a solid album full of some terrific breakdowns that are definitely not a waste of money.
