Sometimes Bury Your Dead stray from the image and idea that they need to be. For example, the opening lines to So Fucking Blues (aka: Mission:Impossible II) “I never said that I was a fucking poet,” just don’t ring right for me. Sure you’re not a poet, but I really don’t want to even hear the word poet while being barraged with such relentless breakdown ready mosh music. I want to forget the word poetry even exists when I’m listening to Bury Your Dead, i just want that powerful rhythm section to guide me home. Burn Baby contains the level of lyrics I demand from my non-technichal pit music: “Hardcore is everything. The scene, my brothers, my true friends, and my fucking family. GO!”
The album is summed up in the last track. Title? Mosh n’ Roll. Lyrics? Bury Your Fucking Dead. Bury Your Fucking Dead. Bury Your Fucking Dead.
I’m surprised it took so long for You Had Me At Hello to get another shot at US audiences. YHMAH is a fast, fun album, full of clichés and tongues in cheek (ie. Cammo is My Favorite Color with the lyrics “Put on your dancing shoes, it’s fucking time to rock baby”). Go get it. GO!
