And lo and fucking behold, the kid has rhyme skills. The beats are well produced and interesting, the lyrics are challenging and explicit, and the flow of the record is great. I can’t really explain how surprised I was by this. Eppard’s style is really sick, and his lyrics are damn entertaining, alternatively talking about getting his ass kicked to punching pregnant hoes in the stomach to stagnating in a small town. The shock value fades when you get a little context, and the well-placed slower songs with more personal content break up the faster, angrier songs, but overall this is a violent trip through metaphor and images of everyday life from a guy who has lost his composure a bit and needs to vent some shit. and although some of it isn’t that fabulous, its overall a really solid hip hop album. If you are down for a kid baring it all on every track without guest rappers and fancy beats and talking about playas and crystal, give a drummer a chance to step up to mic.
