This album has its punk rock prize winners such as “My Everything” and “Too Many Nights,” but it also has its washouts, for instance “Uncomfortable.” There’s nothing really to set these guys apart, with the exception of the stance they take, and have always taken on animal rights. “Behind The Mask” is the new “Free Me.” It features a British commentary spewing out a liberation speech and the ever-unimpressive ska punk horn group. The only reason I liked this song was for the message, because it’s important even though the lyrics at time almost fit into the category of “break-up song.” Also, “Iron Fist” has got a great anti-war, anti-Bush Administration message that any intelligent mind can appreciate.
This whole album as a whole is just slightly less than disappointing. It’s Goldfinger, and for Goldfinger fans, it’s terrific because it’s just like all their other songs and albums. But for someone who is purely a fan of music, leave this one alone, it’s got nothing you haven’t heard before a thousand times. Perhaps it’s even boring. “Open Your Eyes” was a much better release for these guys, “Disconnection Notice” will most likely prove to be a setback.
