The debut full length from the Filthy Thieving Bastards features a blend of the Pogues, Flogging Molly, and any other Irish pub-punk band that exists these days. That's a compliment. You should definately put this disc in the player before hitting the bottle because it will definately put you in the mood and promise you an enjoyable evening. With members of The Swingin' Utters, Me First & The Gimme Gimmes, and Camper Van Beethovan you are assured to have a good time while listening to this album. With FTB you get a folk-ballad approach blended in with violins, piano, mandolin, organ, and upright bass. The Bastards are fun, able to keep you listening, and have the ability to demonstrate that they're just not a Swingin' Utters side project. Go out, get a six pack, get wasted, but most importantly do it while listening to "A Melody Of Retreads And Broken Quills" by the Filthy Thieving Bastards.
