Until The End is one of those hardcore bands that will stop at nothing to make you move, provided you’re in the pit. However, after the initial exciting inertia wore off, I found that what was left was an overly simplistic hardcore band with a singer who sounds like the new Throwdown vocalist, who I don’t really like. I could see this being bumped for a few weeks, definitely in the weeks preceding one of Until the End’s notoriously intense shows while you learned the words, but then having it be quickly discarded. They do a great job of capturing the energy of a show, but remember, at a show you see a band for 30 minutes and then after they pack up the van you don’t see them again for months. This CD reminds me of that. I will work on my dance moves while listening to some of these sick breakdowns, but that’s about it.
Also, The Blind Leading the Lost is painfully short. Track 10 isn’t even a song, and it’s the last track. If your formula is chugga chugga/bkdown/chugga chugga with screaming, give us more than nine examples! Outside of the mosh, Until The End exhibits considerable growth lyrically, moving from strictly SxE lyrics, to being a passionate edge band, but also angry Floridians who saw their election hijacked. They say in the liner notes, “Living in South Florida, we witnessed the importance of voting first hand...Remember, there is NOTHING conservative about punk.” Now that I support, a band with a message. I just wish there was more than amazing breakdowns, but I guess enough people are happy with that to keep bands like Until the End infused with stage dives and head walking wherever they go.
