There's only one cover band that never gets old, and I hope you all know who I'm talking about. Some people will call them "The best cover band in the world," and I'll whole heartedly concur. From Little Orphan Annie to Paul Simon to Vanessa Williams, this band can make anything, and yes, I mean anything plainly rock. Now, of course this boys are a group of punk rock geniuses all their own, but together they form a superhero sort of like those giant robots in the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers that look really fake but kick some major butt. By kicking butt I mean cranking out covers of Debbie Harry, Jimmy Page, John Lennon and well, I don't know who wrote Hava Nagila but I know he was pretty Jewish and it takes a lot to be a fake Jew. I hope the fabulous cover of the famous "Jew tune" makes it into some holiday compilation because as a lonely little Jew, I sometimes need a bit of holiday cheer. This leads me to my next question. Does Me First really play bar mitzvahs?  There's nothing I'd love more than to be an awkward looking thirteen year old Jewish boy with dark hair and thick rimmed square glasses dancing around to the world's greatest cover band with a dozen of my geeky thirteen year old friends! The cover art makes me jealous of those little boys. I think that makes me sound like a child molester...I'm not sure. Anyway, favorite tracks include "The Longest Time,: originally a hit by Billy Joel and "Strawberry Fields Forever," written by John Lennon. How does one say anything negative about Me First and The Gimme Gimmes?  I'll try. I want to see a cover of the Dreidel song and I won't rest until my little Jewish wish has been granted. Fabulous release as usual, better than the last one which to be honest I wasn't too fond of. Four stars...worlds greatest cover band! By the way, the commentary between songs is the best part, as well as the cd rom footage of Johnny's Bar Mitzvah that you can access by inserting the disc into your computer.
