Alkaline Trio's "Warbrain" is quite a strong little number, which was surprising since I found their half of the split with One Man Army rather unspectacular. Against Me!'s electric version of "Sink Florida Sink" packs more punch than the album version. Anti-Flag's "The School of Assassins" is also a surprise coming after the lackluster "Terror State." The ever catchy synth-80s-pop-rock of the Epoxies is oh so good methinks. I haven't heard them before this and I've been inspired to check out their stuff, it's really really tasty. The good outweighs the bad on this baby.
However, the bad is still present and accounted for. The Ataris' acoustic version of Bad Religion's "Heaven is Falling" is absolutely horrendous. I don't know if Kris Roe's voice has sounded this fake before or I'm just now noticing it. The fact that Authority Zero and Pennywise are on the same record makes me laugh a little bit, since Authority Zero is nothing but Pennywise Junior. I still don't get the RX Bandits weird "Progressive ska white boy reggae", therefore I still don't like it. It's like a bad Bob Marley impression. I still don't like New Found Glory either, the guy's voice is ever annoying on this song, even more than usual. But still, this comp is very good in my opinion.
It's cheap too and for all the good stuff that's on this thing, I'd recommend it. It's a cause everyone can get behind too considering that no matter where you live, Bush has or will be having some effect on you now or in the near future if he is re-elected. Anyway, from the United States of the World, Mr. Ian, signing off. (Guest review: Ian from punkunited.com).
