Aside from having a pretty terrible name (taken or not), this SoCal four piece brings the pop-punk/rock sound with a skilled touch. However, a skilled touch applied to a crowded and mediocre genre doesn't make history. I first heard Name Taken on last years split with Bayside, and their half ended up being the less listened to of the split. This year each band has released a full length, and each are way catchy, but Name Taken ends up along the wayside to Bayside once again. Name Taken's music is catchy, intricate, and well produced, and their vocalist has a fairly engaging voice. However, they do little to separate themselves from the pack. There  is nothing here, aside from some hooks like barbed wire, that will keep me listening to Hold On another month or two down the road. Bayside on the other hand....
