Everyday Victory are a new band out of Portland Oregon trying to make a name for themselves in the punk/emo scene.  It is hard sometimes to make a distinguishable name for yourself when you tend to sound like everyone else. They have a kind of new Hot Water Music feel to the music, with mid-tempo songs based on fairly simple chord progressions. The vocals are the worst part for me, with this MXPX style voice mixed with the kind of Simple Plan melodies. The guitar work is basic, and the percussion is unimaginative. It seems like they tried for a stripped down roots rock style sometimes, but then blast into a vaguely pop-punk/mtv-punk genre. The lyrics are pretty uncompelling as well. Overall, its just another drop in the ocean of generic mid-level bands. Two stars because its not unlistenable and I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of someone liking it, but I cannot recommend it.
