Reviews
In the past few years that I’ve been reviewing music for punkbands.com, there have been very few releases that have proclaimed themselves winners after their first spin. It was evident as “The Terror State” began to spin that Fat had something special on their hands. I’m sure that’s not a surprise to them, but think this record will turn a lot of heads (including those not familiar with the band). “George W.” made this band pretty pissed which comes across quite clearly. The perfect example is “Mind The G.A.T.T” which features a live quote from the President himself. The track is one of my favorites. The dancehall beat coated by the vocals of Justin Sane makes for a nice little fuck you to W.! Many fans will be surprised by the acoustic beginning to the first track “Turncoat” but it doesn’t last for long. The band busts into the fast paced anthem that we’ve all been waiting for. Tracks such as “Rank-n-File”, and “Power To The Peaceful” show a catchier side of the band, but they don’t lose their edge. If you’re looking for pure punk with the edge the band is known for then “You Can Kill The Protest, But You Can’t Kill The Protest”, “Wake Up”, and the most hard hitting track on the album “Death Of A Nation” are for you! I’m not one that exactly enjoys bands or people preaching their beliefs to me, but Anti-Flag gets their point across. They do it without shoving it down your throat, and it'll surely raise your eyebrows. Just take a second while you’re playing the cd and take a look in the cd book. You’ll see for yourself. I’ve been a fan of many Fat releases since their inception, and “The Terror State” is sure to become one of the classics the label has released. If you’re reading this review and either don’t know of the band or haven’t been one in the past, there is no reason for you not to check this out! It’s a solid thirteen tracks containing no filler!
