The album opens with "Anywhere But You," which is a light, upbeat song, which sounds like a carbon copy of something off a Weezer album. I had to double check to make sure I put the right CD on. The next song, "What Went Wrong" is just bad. The vocals are too nasally. I thought that being signed to a major record label meant you could finally afford singing lessons. The third song, "Driving In The Dark" opens with a creative guitar part, but as soon as the singing starts, I want to slam my head into a wall. Tracks 4 and 5, "Rise," and the cover song, "In Reverie," are no better. Someone should tell Chris Conley his voice does not sound good when he tries to hold notes, or sing high for that matter. By the time I pass through tracks 6 and 7, I'm so appalled, I don't care what they're called, but for the sake of this review, we'll call them "Morning in the Moonlight," and "Monkey." All of a sudden I'm tortured with some a capello singing in song 8, and I'm borderline pressing stop before I force myself to just skip ahead a song. It's a good thing I did, because number 9 is half-decent. It's called "She," and it's a slower song, but it's sung well, and there isn't much to it, which is nice. I'd have to say, this song is all that can save my day so far. Then, we just jump right back into a sea of poor mixing and music that is neither creative, nor showing any talent. The album ends with "Wednesday The Third," and "Tomorrow Too Late," and I couldn't be happier once it's over. What a waste of my life listening to this CD was.
It's a sad day when a band that I used to love to listen to now makes me cringe. To all you Saves The Day fans, I think you'll agree with me on this one.
