I've always been hesitant about reviewing albums of bands I've never heard. No offense to the band, but when I saw the name Orange Island I thought it was just another run of the mill emo/indie/punk rock band. What the hell.... put it in the spinner and lets see how it sounds. Wow! Never judge a book by it's cover especially when the cover art is as well done as this one. A common practice of the boys and girls of today's scene is to lump a band into the pop/punk and emo genre but Orange Island sets themselves far apart from that categorization. While most of the lyrical content of the album deals with the good times and being trapped in a small town, the struggles of alcohol, drugs, and tragedy are not forgotten. The complexity of this album is taken to a new level which is refreshingly catchy and and filled with energy until the last note.
