Punk covers are fun, that's a solid fact. For the "Punk Goes Pop" comp, Fearless Records gathered 17 covers of some of the most horrible hit chart songs. All of these songs are brought by hip punk and hardcore bands, famous ones and relatively small ones. Fearless' very own Dynamite Boy opens this CD with a remake of the Backstreet Boys' "I Want It That Way" - they do this so well that I can hardly tell the difference. Next up is Slick Shoes, but their sound is horrible… let's hope that their upcoming full length album sounds better. Yellowcard and Rufio, two of the hottest upcoming bands respectively bring Michelle Branch's "Everywhere" and Madonna's "Like A Prayer". Make sure you check out their latest full length releases, these guys deserve a lot more attention! The "new" Further Seems Forever also contributed to this compilation ('N Sync's "Bye Bye Bye"). The new vocalist sounds great, I wonder how their future releases are going to sound. I had never heard of Noise Ratchet before, but this sounds really promising… No Motiv meets Saves The Day? Also notable is the Starting Line with J. Lo's "I'm Real", this one is really funny and it sounds amazing. Okay, there are a couple of weak tracks on here too (e.g. Stretch Arm Strong, Knockout, Nicotine), but all in all it's a very pleasant CD.
