Mama mia, all those great Drive Thru bands gathered on an 18 track compilation. There's songs from the albums as well as previously unreleased material, now THAT's how I like my comps. Let's talk about bands:
Allister: Not my favorite poppunkers, a little too generic I guess.
The Benjamins: Okay, their Oasis-esque thingy is far from cool, but the previously unreleased song that they contributed, "3720 to 1", shakes booty.
Fenix TX: They re-recorded "O'Bleek" off the old and extremely crappy G.B.O.H. EP, and now it does sound super. This is an awesome band.
Finch: Drive Thru's harder side: this band definitely impressed me with their latest full length release, "What It Is To Burn", so check that one out. Finch put two tracks on the compilation, one of 'em is "Letters To You", their mighty single. The other one is a nice, rare track.
Home Grown: Presenting two new tracks in typical Home Grown softcore style.
Midtown: "Get It Together" was released earlier on the Millencolin/Midtown split. This is one of their best songs, and they'll put it on the new album which will be out in April. Start drooling now, the album will be a ground breaking emopunk monument.
The Movielife: Just like Allister, not a very original sound.
New Found Glory: No introduction needed. Two rare tracks, sticky as sugga honey.
Rx Bandits: Drive Thru's ska outfit. "Analog Boy", taken from "Progress" (Drive Thru 2001) is really nice, but "Mastering The List" is definitely the worst song on this compilation.
Something Corporate: un-be-lie-va-ble. "Konstantine", an astonishing 9 minute ballad is so magnificent that actually you could buy the compilation just for this one song. The lyrics, the climaxes,… I swear, you'll fall in love with this one.
The Starting Line: This is a great band, but they should have picked other songs for this sampler.
