In the year of the blooming hardcore, pop-punk, and the emotional indie scene it's nice to have a band like Pepper come along to mix things up. You may ask yourself the same thing I did.... Pepper? Yes, their name is Pepper and I think their new album "Kona Town" consists of the freshness that the scene used to have in the late 90's (Sublime days). With their Hawaiian influenced dance hall, Pepper also has combined an island reggae sound with explosive percussions intermingled with liquid-like bass lines and one edgy ass guitar. The mixture of island rock, dub, and reggae have made Pepper one of the most unique bands to come around in a while. If you're looking for a record that contains it all, this is the one. The rock-steady tracks are fused with the west coast sound we have all become accustomed to, and putting a fine coating over every track is the foundation of straight up punk rock.
