Dodger's album, Musth, is a solid combination of punk, rock, and reggae. From heavy hitting sing-a-long choruses to dropping a dub beat throughout the song, the album has a good range for a lot of different people to like. Very reminiscent of Sublime or 311, but with much more of a rock influence, most of the songs are good old rocking tunes with a solid musical backing. Although most of the songs do have a pretty solid musical aspect to them, there are a few things about the album that are a little less than perfect.

The lyrics and vocals don't stand out at all really. They tend to be lost in the fray and don't really add to any of the songs' character. Most of the time, especially with the heavy reggae influence that is obvious with this band, you would think that the vocals and lyrics would play one of, if not the biggest part, but they just seem to fade into the songs and don't really get you fired up for the song itself. Now, I'm not saying the songs are bland, I'm just saying after listening to them, I said to myself, "That was good, but I wanted more."

Now after saying that, let me assure you that Dodger is a breath of fresh air to the whole music scene. They have great potential to really define themselves as one of the modern reggae/rock outfits that stands out above the rest. This album was a good start, and I will be looking forward to more music they can come up with because if their writing can progress and they can really define themselves, this band will be a force to be reckoned with. As they stand right now, they are still a good band to listen to if you are a fan of reggae music and also a fan of punk and hard rock, and are worth checking out because they might just be the new something you were looking for.
