This Floridian punk band gets things off to a good start with "Skeletons," where the band's intensity and strength are front and center. On this track and throughout the record, the vocals of Ryan Loughney are the main point of focus. The gruff and rough ferocity in his voice demands attention and helps to inspire the rest of the band to pick up the pace and occasionally the speed. The wistful remembrances of "HS" show this band in a different light; they're not just talking about random, depressing shit. The song might remind some people of early New Found Glory, which is either good or bad depending on who's listening.
Though the band's music occasionally falls flat - see "The Torch" - their level of intensity never drops which is definitely one of the album's selling points. While the music may sound a bit repetitive, the band's lyrics are some of the most interesting things that this reviewer has heard in quite a long time, particularly in hardcore.
While the ‘gang vocals' mentality gets a bit tiring on record after record, Fallen from the Sky's minimal use of them is refreshing to hear. By the end of the record, the band seem's to be running a bit low on steam and ideas and the lesser tracks all tend to blend into each other and don't really seem to be going anywhere. But it's not for lack of effort; these guys are new and still trying to find their footing in everything that's going on around them.
In the end, the band is strong on power, at least vocally and also in their lyrics, which are some of the most stellar I've heard on a punk record in a long, long time. Definitely be on the lookout for this band because with the unbridled intensity of the music and their chaotic live shows, they are a punk band on the move.
