Texas Is The Reason: The Official Word

Posted by Archive Bot on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at 8:31 AM

The press release has been sent out. The show date is confirmed. November 25th at Irving Plaza in NYC, Texas is the Reason will re-unite for one show celebrating the 10 year anniversary of their lone full length, Do You Know Who You Are? Guitarist Norman Brannon had this to say: "Texas Is The Reason did everything in broad strokes, so breaking up when we did, quickly and silently, felt like an extension of that. The one thing we all agreed on, even back then, was that our last show should have been in New York City. We've had reunion offers in other states, but we turned them down. This show has been in the back of our minds for a long time."

Brannon formed Texas with 108 drummer Chris Daly in 1994. Bassist Scott Winegard and frontman Garrett Klahn rounded out the quartet. After releasing an EP, the previously mentioned full length, and a couple of split seven inches, the band called it quits reportedly the night before signing to a major label.

The band members have kept busy since then. Klahn went on to form Solea and Daly co-founded Jets to Brazil. Winegard started his own record label, GrapeOS, and played with a band called the Americans. Brannon went silent until 2001, resurfacing with New End Original, a project featuring former Far frontman Jonah Matranga.

Ticket information for the reunion show have been posted at texasisthereason.org.
