Interview with Kevin on Nov 30, 2000 by Archive Bot

This interview was conducted via AOL Instant Messenger with Kevin of Catch 22 on April 24th. Catch 22 will be heading to Europe to take part in the Deconstruction Tour in May. You can find out the latest info by checking out www.njcatch22.com.

PB: Please introduce yourself, and say something about you that no one else should know?
C22: I am Kevin from the band Catch 22, and I love baseball and rap music. Big Snoop Dogg is my favorite.

PB: Heheheheh hell yea! What do you think of P-Diddy?
C22: Sucks!

PB: How would you characterize the differences between the "new" and "old" Catch 22? How has the sound of the band changed and have you guys matured since the first line-up?
C22: Other than the different people there aren't many other differences. We are alot heavier now, and we have definately matured since we have had the new line-up.

PB: Now that the band has announced that Jeff (lead vocals) has decided the leave the band, what direction do you think the band will head in? How big of a challenge will it be to find someone else and what kind of person are you looking for?
C22: We are looking for a fun, energetic person who can sing really well. We are going to keep going in the same directionwe have been going in. We are just going to keep putting out fun, energetic music.

PB: There are a lot of bands that have come out of New Jersey and have made it "big". Are you friends with any of the other bands like The Bouncing Souls, Midtown, Saves The Day, and do you guys ever have the chance to hang out?
C22: We are friends with Midtown and Thursday. We talk to them alot. I haven't talked to Big Wig in so long and that sucks because I love those guys, and as for the others we have met them and they seem cool.

PB: Please define New Jersey...............
C22: THE SOPRANOS!

PB: You guys will be heading over to Europe for the first time as part of the Deconstruction Tour. What are you looking forward to, and what are you hesitant about?
C22: I am looking forward to meeting a lot of cool bands and playing great shows! I don't like flying or being in strange customs.

PB: What do you think of the current state of the music scene in New Jersey? Do you think it's about to croak any time now? How does it compare to when Catch 22 first formed?
C22: Well........ I can't really say because we aren't really home enough to ever go to any shows. It seems that it is going as strong as ever. When we first formed the wasn't as good as it was after we had been around for a couple of years.

PB: New York Yankees or New York Mets.......... and why?
C22: Mets of course! Because they are my favorite team since I was eight.

PB: What did being signed to Victory Records do for you guys? Did it effect you as a band or personally in any way? How have the other Victory bands reacted to a ska-core band on the label?
C22: Signing to Victory was great for us! They have done some amazing things for our band. We are very good friends with the bands Shutdwn, OS 101, and Hatebreed.

PB: What if Catch 22 never formed............. where do you think you would be?
C22: In college........ playing music! I will always play music.

PB: I've heard that you guys consider Chicago your home away from home. What is it about the Chicago scene that is so awesome?
C22: Well, Victory is there and the kids are just amazing! They make us feel so loved when we play there. We love Chicago and New Jerset just so much.

PB: So many great bands have frequented the venue.... The Fireside Bowl. What's that place like anyways?
C22: Awesome! It's pretty grungy and dirty, but it is so much fun to play. It's a bowling alley but..... IT RULES!

PB: Who has had he greatest impact on your both musically and personally?
C22: Ummm..... probably our old trombone player Jamey. He taught me how to play my trumpet and the drums when I was young and I love him like a brother. My parents have influenced my life the most.

PB: If N'sync came to you and asked you to join the band what would you say?
C22: I would say SURE because I love singing harmonys and I really like N'sync. I don't own any records, but I always watch them if they are on MTV and on TV in general.

PB: Hehhehehe sweet. I'm all about the boy bands............ especially Blink 182.

PB: Lastly, thanks so much for the interview. What would you like to say to all those kids who have been there for Catch 22 from day one, and who will support you guys until the end?
C22: Just thanks alot for sticking with us, and we promise we will always try to put out great music and put on great show! THANKS.
