Allister

Interview with Tim & Scottie on Nov 30, 2000 by Archive Bot

I would like to thank Tim and Scottie of Allister for taking the time to sit down with me after a great set!

PB: Introduce yourslves and please tell me how the band came about?
AL: I'm Tim

PB: So am I!
AL: Yeaaaaa! Timmy! Basically me and John have been playing since high school, and we wanted to try to start something up in high school but it never really happened. We went through our first year in college and John went to one school and I went to a different one. So we thought it would broaden us up, meet some kids, see who wants to play. So we met a kid at John's school..... Skippie who is really good and we started up the band. We started as a 3-piece then things kinda went from there. Skippie eventually left and I moved up to guitar. Originally I played drums, but then we got Dave who plays drums now.

PB: Tell me a few things about Allister that not a lot of people know........
AL: (Scottie) There's no secrets in the Allister camp. We have an asian in our band.

PB: Diversity!
AL: (Scottie) Diversity is ok.
AL: (Tim) He's got shifty eyes so he makes us kinda nervous. We all still live at home bumming around.
AL: (Scottie) Having as asian in your band isn't as much as a commodity anymore because at least three of the bands tonight have as asian playing. We were the first. You can't tell asians apart... they all look the same.

PB: How has such a hard working label like Drive-Thru effected your career?
AL: I think they've made us a better band. They encourage us a lot to just like do stuff. We do a lot of stuff ourselves, but they've have helped us get a lot better live show. Not telling us what to do, but giving constructive criticism.

PB: Richard is a big guy, you don't wanna mess with him.
AL: (Scottie) He's all talk. He's a pussy! Put that I beat him in arm wrestling.

PB: What three bands would you like to play with, but haven't had the chance to?
AL: The Beatles, Backstreet Boys, Marvelous Three, Green Day, and The Queers.

PB: What do you think about Tuesday's events and how can music help?
AL: Tuesday was weird shit man. I don't even know what to think about it. I think music can help by putting together shows for donations. People over there need our help a lot more than we need theirs. I think music is a great outlet for expression. People can listen to music if it's The Beatles or Limp Bizkit and it can help take your mind off what happened. When something like this happens I think you need every kind of outlet that you can get.

PB: Thanks for taking the time to talk to punkbands.com. What can Allister fans expect of you guys in the coming months?
AL: Nothing at all. We're breaking up! We're done. I think we're going to be recording a new cd in January. So, hopefully look for a release date in late April or early May. Which is too bad because we have taken forever to put out a new album. You can check out all the news at www.allisterrock.com. There's been talk of doing a tour with Showoff probably in the next month or so. We'll probably take the month of December just to write songs.
