River City Rebels
Interview with Timmy on Nov 30, 2000 by Archive Bot
This interview was conducted with Dan O'Day of The River City Rebels via email. The River City Rebels can be seen on a few select dates of this summers Warped Tour. For the latest news, info, and tour dates check out www.rivercityrebels.com.PB: Do you prefer O-Town or N'sync?
RCR: Neither!
PB: Where did you guys come up with the name The River City Rebels?
RCR: It was an old motorcycle gang from White River Junction, Vermont. I thought it had a good ring to it, and it summer up our music very well!
PB: Would The River City Rebels ever consider having a video on MTV?
RCR: Yea, if it was on our terms. If it wasn't for Green Day in '94 being on MYV I wouldn't be talking to you right now. Does that make us a sellout? Nope. If we started playing rapcore and then got on MTV that would be a sellout!
PB: What was the best/worst show you played and who was it with?
RCR: Best would be with Less Than Jake in Kansas to like 800 kids and tha worst would be in Brattsboro, Vermont. They have a great place to play but the shows there just suck!
PB: Who are the bands influences?
RCR: The Clash, Ramones, Bruce Springsteen, The Voo Doo Glow Skulls, Rancid, Dropkick Murphys, and Stiff Little Fingers to name a few.
PB: Do you prefer Fruit Loops or Wheaties?
RCR: Wheaties!
PB: What is your all-time favorite venue?
RCR: 242 Main in Burlington, Vermont.
PB: Do you have a favorite city that you guys have gone to on tour?
RCR: Chicago for sure!!
PB: Pamela Anderson or Anna Nicole Smith and why?
RCR: Anna Nicole Smith, Pamela is overdone.
PB: Were any of the members in another band prior to the formation of The River City Rebels?
RCR: A few of us were in The Skatender, a few from The Skullys, one guy is from Cobra Skammander.
PB: I noticed on your new album you incorporate alot of social issues into your lyrics. Can you name some that are important to the band?
RCR: Racism, and organized religion are the two that bug me the most.
PB: Do you think George W. Bus is really as dumb as he seems?
RCR: Yea! He seems like an asswipe.
PB: Do you guys have any nicknames for each other? If so....... what are they?
RCR: Mine is "The Bopper", Dan McCool is "Ears", Brandon is "Iron Giant", Erik is "Pretzels", and no one else has one.
PB: What is gracing your cd player right now?
RCR: Bruce Springsteen, Old Skars and Upstarts 2001, the new Green Day, and Joan Jett.
