Pilfers
Interview with Vinny on Nov 30, 1999 by Archive Bot
PB: What would you like to say to all those fans who traveled from near and far to see you guys always put on one of the best shows they have seen?PIL: From day one of this band I have to say I've been pretty overwhelmed with the response that we've gotten. Selling our first demo tape to the first cd and the t shirts and stuff we had I really felt like I had a true connection with our fans, and to hear the adulation after a show was beyond any feeling I could express. I could say thank you but that would only scrape a few ice cubes off the iceburg...you all made me feel so warm when I was cold and lonely out in the middle of nowhere and when I missed my family and friends back home you all were there to pick up the slack. Every time I felt down and dreaded the long trips in the van (many all nighters) I would turn to the guest book on our web page and would read what the fans were telling us and that would give me the strength to climb in the van and drive on....so whatever we did as a band for you guys, you have done for me (us) Pilfers. Thank you! Unfortunately bands are meant to break.
PB: It's obvious that a lot of you if not all of you will miss The Pilfers. Is there any relief in being able to try new things and maybe experiment with aspects of music that you haven't been able to explore yet?
PIL:I will miss the life style and the pride of running a good business for the last 4 years. The traveling and grueling schedule I will not miss. The fast food and sleepless nights I could do without for a while. There are bright possibilities coming into view. Life is like climbing a mountain, the view is great here....but I wonder what it looks like from up there.... and so the journey continues.
PB: I know a lot of your musical/personal plans aren't set in stone yet, but what are you guys looking to do now that band has separated?
PIL: I personally have a cd's worth of material that i will be putting together as soon as possible(some old songs that never got they're fair take in the studio and some new stuff) if you haven't heard I have a children's record coming out soon, you'll here hits like, I'm a Firetruck, Special Day and Hold Hands. I'll be performing at various public libraries and elementary schools. I also have plans to put out a jazz cd with my dad on piano. I want to teach music and give back to any willing soul the gift of music that was bestowed upon me with all the great teachers I had. I owe it all to them. Beyond music I want to fall in love, get hitched and have a couple of kids... not in necessarily in that order. A mansion in the countryside or a cardboard box in the railroad yard....
PB: Please finish the following sentence. If Vinny Noble and Matt Wong were partners in a wrestling match against Coolie Ranx and Buju Banton who would win and how?
PIL: All of the above mentioned are about nonviolence. This is not even something to consider. I despise wrestling!!!!
PB: Are you guys planning on doing anything with the live album you recorded prior to your break-up? If so, what are they?
PIL: Give us money!! We'll put it out tomorrow!!!!!!
PB: Lastly, thanks for such a great ride and for so many phenominal shows. When Pilfers fans look back at the band how do you want to be remembered?
Live fast, die young, leave a beautiful corpse.. Thanks and one love.
