Interviews
No Use For A Name
with Tony Sly and Matt Riddle
Tony Sly and Matt Riddle took some time during the Fat Tour to discuss the new album, the history of NUFAN, Cake Boy, a professional wrestler, internet videos and anthropology.
Youth Brigade
with Shawn Stern
An Interview with the owner of BYO records and the guitarist/lead vocalist for Youth Brigade, Shawn Stern. This Interview was done on 11/18/07, at the second day of Riot Fest in Chicago, IL.
Between The Buried And Me
with Tommy Rogers
About a week before Between the Buried and Me’s "Colors" was released I had the chance to talk with the frontman of the band while he was feeling the exhaustion of writing what many critics have called a masterpiece.
The Gaslight Anthem
with Brian Fallon
The Gaslight Anthem recently released their four-song EP, Senor and the Queen, a follow-up to their debut Sink or Swim, which took my top spot for best albums released in 2007. Listen to either release and you’ll hear some of the most exciting music currently coming out of the punk scene. I got a chance to talk with singer and guitarist Brian Fallon when Gaslight was in Chicago on their most recent tour with Dead To Me and The Draft. They’ll be on the road again this February with The Loved Ones.
Street Dogs
with Mike McColgan and Johnny Rioux
Our own Amy Meyer got a chance to chat with some of the members of the Street Dogs on their tour with Tiger Army when they swung through Chicago. Check out what the guys had to say.
The Receiving End Of Sirens
with Andrew Cook, Alex Bars, and Brendan Brown
I took a drive up to Baltimore from the D.C. suburb that I call home to catch the first date on The Receiving End of Sirens’ headlining tour for their second album at the Ottobar and spend a little time talking to the guys. As I walked through a hidden door and up the stairs of an old Baltimore house that felt like a bomb shelter, the guys were waiting for me at the top of the stairs in a room that felt like it housed members of the Civil War.
American Steel
with Rory Henderson
Although American Steel reunited this past summer, they technically never broke up. They just changed their name to Communiqué and wrote songs with a different sound. I sat down outside the Metro in Chicago with lead singer Rory Henderson as he explained the change-over and related some tales of touring way back when. American Steel recently released Destroy Their Future and are currently on tour with The Lawrence Arms/The Falcon/Sundowner.
Anti-Flag
with Chris #2
Last February, Anti-Flag had to call off several dates of their tour when bassist Chris #2 discovered that his sister and her boyfriend were murdered in Pittsburgh, PA. In order to help raise money for the organization which helped him through this awful experience, Anti-Flag recently released a 12-track EP, A Benefit for Victims of Violent Crime.
